Matric Final Exam Boot Camps: Provincial education departments have started boot camps for all matriculants as they get ready to write their end-of-year National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams. These camps help learners prepare for their exams and bridge content gaps in all subjects.

The North West Education Department stated that 30 224 matriculants are currently benefiting from the extra lessons which began on Friday 30 September 2022. These lessons are set to end on Sunday 9 October 2022.

According to the department, the boot camps will spread across 102 venues. 70 of these venues will be residential and 32 will be walk-in venues.

These camps help students revise for their end-of-year exams and bridge content gaps in all subjects. These exams are set to begin on 31 October 2022 and will end on 7 December 2022.

Mmaphefo Matsemela, the North West MEC for Education, has assured parents and guardians that their children’s safety will be prioritised throughout the camps. Learners will also be provided with meals while at these camps, because one cannot learn when they are hungry.

“On behalf of the department, I would like to thank teachers and learners for availing themselves. I would like to encourage parents to allow learners to come for the camps and study with their peers for them to fully understand their content, revise and learn with others,” said Matsemela.

The provincial department stated that provision for generators has been made which will provide backup power in case of loadshedding. These generators will help in areas where electronic devices need to be used during lessons.

KwaZulu-Natal has also been hosting its own boot camps. Mbali Frazer, the KwaZulu-Natal MEC of Education, has urged learners to be focused and strictly adhere to their study timetables.

“This programme is organised by the department to assist Grade 12 learners with revision and preparing matric candidates for their final school examination after 12 years of schooling,” said the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education.

Frazer has thanked teachers for sacrificing their spring holidays to make themselves available to tutor these Grade 12 learners. The department is very grateful for all their educators who have taken part in these boot camps.

The Gauteng Education Department has planned 30 residential camps for 15 000 learners as part of its High School improvement programme. This programme will prepare their learners for their final exams.

Limpopo has launched its 2022 Grade 12 countdown at Mbilwi High School in Sibasa Circuit in Vhembe. According to the Limpopo Education Department, they strive to mobilise parents, guardians and stakeholders to support the 2022 matriculants.
